Tourism & Environment Forum ActivitiesManaging and Marketing the Natural and Built Heritage Perth, October 2003 |
Organised by the Tourism and Environment Forum on behalf of Historic Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage , this one-day event brought together representatives from key public agencies and NGOs involved in heritage conservation and tourism. The aim of the event was to discuss issues surrounding the management of heritage for Scotland and consider heritage in a tourism context. This was the first event of its kind to be held by these organisations and it provided an opportunity to identify common issues, encourage partnership working as well as a valuable networking occasion. Through presentations, case studies and workshop discussion, delegates considered the value of heritage to Scotland and its people, the requirements of visitors who visit the country and the opportunities which heritage tourism brings, and could bring, for Scotland as a whole. Below is an outline of the programme of the day. The presentations (or summaries) can be downloaded. A summary of the general themes which arose in discussions in the afternoon is also available.
