| Walking Operator Achieves Gold | |
| 09 August 2005 C-N-Do Scotland, the well known operator of walking holidays, has just gained a Gold Award in the VisitScotland Green Tourism Business Scheme, which encourages tourism businesses to operate in an environmentally friendly way. C-N-Do was scored highly by the environmental expert on their overall commitment to the environment and the way in which they incorporate the message in all they do. C-N-Do is the first walking holiday operator to join the Green Tourism Business Scheme, which now has 430 members. Dorothy Breckenridge, co-director of C-N-Do Scotland, said: "C-N-Do has always had a strong commitment to protecting our environment, which is what our guests come to experience. Leaving small green footprints and taking away unforgettable memories of Scotland's wild places has always been our ethos; the GTBS is, therefore, ideal for us to show that commitment." Members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme gain accreditation following a rigorous inspection by an environmental expert. They are given a Bronze, Silver or Gold, depending on how well they perform under a range of measures, including energy conservation, recycling, use of water, use of local transport, and communicating the 'green' message to their guests.
