The first ever Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards will be bestowed at an evening ceremony in October.  Among those being celebrated will be local businesses who actively protect the environment during the production or distribution of their product and those whose produce or service enhances the visitor experience and raises the food tourism profile of the area. 

The awards will complement the work of Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Forum in encouraging food and drink businesses to be innovative, forward thinking and collaborative. The Awards will highlight and celebrate excellence and achievement in the industry, focusing on the success of individual businesses together with their contribution to the local food economy.

The deadline for applications is 16th September.  The Awards will tie in with the Highland Feast 2005 and will be presented at an Award Dinner taking place at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Friday 7th October 2005.
