| Green Companies Award Launched | |
| 13 February 2008 Building on the success of the Best Companies to Work for, The UK Sunday Times has launched "Best Green Companies" to establish a new benchmark for environmental performance. The winning organisations will be profiled in a dedicated Sunday Times supplement, which will be distributed with 1.3m copies of the newspaper in the Spring, and their achievement will also be marked at an awards event. Depending on the number and quality of entrants, the aim is to profile 100 organisations. The survey consists of a combined two-part assessment. The first section collects information from organisations on their approach to environmental management and measures performance on key indicators. This includes standard core areas such as energy use and recycling, but also allows organisations to describe their environmental objectives and efforts to increase awareness of green issues in the workplace. The second section will be answered by employees and seeks to To ensure fairness, companies will be divided into high, medium or low impact companies (depending on the environmental effect of their business) and again into large and small enterprises.
