Workshop 1: Eco-design and Build 'Eco-design' and 'eco-buildings' mean different things to different people. This workshop will draw on the experiences of four professionals working with eco-buildings, both the design and utilisation of them, and provide an opportunity to ask the question: 'where do I start?'.
Workshop 2: Water: Use or Abuse? This workshop will explore opportunities for businesses to implement practical solutions to the environmental impacts of water use. A look at water efficiency, sustainable drainage systems and grey water treatment with scope for their economic benefits.
Workshop 3: Perspectives on International Green Tourism - What works elsewhere? This workshop will focus on innovations and ideas from other green tourism businesses and destinations, with a particular focus on marketing. Using examples from around the world, we will explore what we can learn from their experiences to benefit our businesses and green tourism as a whole. To maximise the output from this workshop we will look at some key overseas factors of success to brainstorm actions that are suitable to the Scottish context and Scottish tourism businesses.
Workshop 4: Benchmarking: How Does My Business Measure Up? This workshop will outline the benefits which monitoring your environmental performance year over year has on your bottom-line and where to start. We will also look at how you can ensure that your business remains competitive by monitoring your performance in relation to industry norms using a simple on-line tool.
Workshop 5: Small-scale Renewables A review of the pros and cons of small scale renewable energy technologies and the applicability to tourist enterprises, including a case study of the Scottish Seabird Centre.
Workshop 6: What A Waste! Waste minimisation There are many, many ways in which the amount of waste which tourism businesses produce can be reduced, and they needn't cost the earth... in fact they could actually save you money. Come and find out more.
