Wildlife WatchingWildlife at SeaSeals, Puffins, Dolphins, Whales, Porpoises, Basking Sharks, Gannets, Skuas, Guillemots.......! With so much coast, Scotland provides an excellent destination to see marine wildlife, from land and from the sea. Below are two groups of operators who have come together to show they care about the impacts they are having on the natural world. Show you care too by choosing one of the operators. (Remember, you can still enjoy marine wildlife without being on the water - go to our 'wildlife-watching on land' page for more info or see our 'Wild Scotland' page) |

Dolphin-watching in the Moray Firth, North East ScotlandThe Moray Firth in the north-east of Scotland is home to the world's most northerly resident population of bottlenose dolphins. The area has become famous for its dolphins, and people come from all over the world to see them. Increases in visitor numbers raised concerns about the effect that boat traffic might have on these animals and with this in mind the Dolphin Space Programme was set up.
The Dolphin Space Programme aims to help minimise disturbance to the dolphin by encouraging dolphin-watching boat operators in the Moray Firth to follow a code of conduct . Accredited boat operators are also provided with lots of material on the natural history of the area to help visitors make the most of their trip to the Moray Firth. If you want to see the Moray Firth dolphins by boat, make sure that you choose an operator who is part of the scheme. Look for the logo or click here for this year's accredited operators.
